Plastipak was founded in 1967 by Bill Young to solve the problem of heavy five-gallon water jugs — plastic seemed the ideal solution to lighten the load, and that success was the start of Plastipak's ongoing innovation. Plastipak produced its first polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles for a major client, Pepsi, and has continued innovating ever since — including introducing the world's first rotary dual cavity ISBM blow molding system, carbon-coated barrier containers, and most recently in 2023, PPK Natura™, the world's first PET resin made from carbon waste.
